Blackmores PMT
Blackmores PMT helps relieve the symptoms of premenstrual symptoms, and assists in the maintenance of general well-being.
Features and benefits
- Combines vitamins, minerals and herbs for broad-spectrum relief of premenstrual symptoms.
How Blackmores PMT works
- Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is the term used to describe a number of recurrent symptoms that occur during the 7 to 14 days before menstruation. These symptoms can include fluid retention, fatigue, nervous tension, irritability, backache and depression.
- The nutrients and herbs in Blackmores PMT aid in
relieving PMS symptoms:
- The B group vitamins are necessary for normal function and maintenance of the nervous system, and are required in increasing amounts during periods of stress. The B vitamins can help to relieve the symptoms of irritability and nervous tension.
- Magnesium levels tend to have pronounced fluctuations in PMS suffers. Magnesium may help to relieve a variety of PMS symptoms including aches and pains, irritability, mood swings and fluid retention. Low magnesium levels have been associated with low levels of dopamine, a hormone that helps regulate feelings of alertness and relaxation.
- Vitamin E may improve tension, irritability and physical symptoms associated with PMS. This is thought to be due to vitamin E's role in modulating the production of prostaglandins, which can help to reduce inflammatory activity.
- Zinc levels are often low in the second half of the menstrual cycle in women with PMS. Supplementary zinc (and B6) can lower levels of the hormone, prolactin. High levels of prolactin are often evident in PMS.
- Black haw has traditionally been used as an antispasmodic for menstrual cramps.
- Korean ginseng may help with PMS symptoms such as fatigue and stress.
